Catch the Classics at the Ridgefield Playhouse

New to the Fairfield County area and looking for local entertainment? Look no further than the Ridgefield Playhouse, located in Westport Connecticut. Designed in 1938 and abandoned in 1972, the playhouse has been a beacon of talent in Westport since it’s restoration in 2000. The venue offers music performances, movies, plays, dances, classes, guest speakers, comedians, and more; there’s something for everyone! Great performers and events are scheduled year round at the venue, and the acoustics are superb! If you like the Moody Blues, you can catch their frontman, Justin Hayward, at the Playhouse on May 17th. If you’ve got the moving blues, we recommend calling Seamen’s Moving instead.

The small yet delightful town of Southport, Connecticut is located in costal Fairfield County is often skimmed over by visitors to the area but it is not to be missed. The town sits alongside the Long Island Sound and offers a few public beaches that are relaxing and best enjoyed during the summer months. Ridgefield Summer Fest 2016

Every summer Ridgefield hosts its annual Summer Fest and it is not to be missed this year especially. It will take place on July 23 from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm all throughout Main street and the close by roads. Local stores will set up their own tents in front of their stores offering discounts while other artists and vendors will also be in attendance. Live music will be taking place in front of town hall the entire day and great food will be available all up and down the street. This year’s theme is yet to be known but last year’s was the 1970’s which was a great time for everyone so it is sure to be another hit this July! This August make sure to come to South Norwalk to experience the 40th annual SoNo Arts Celebration. It will take place from August 14 – August 16 all along Washington & Main street so there will be plenty of room for local artists to share. The event features over 150 fine artists and craftspersons that will be lined along the streets with plenty of goods for available for purchase. There will also be performing arts groups spread along three different stages as well as other street performers that will keep all ages entertained. Children will also love this event because of the Children’s Art Playground that will allow them to explore their own creativity with lots of different arts and crafts. Darien’s Got Talent Is Back!

Darien’s very own talent competition is happening again this summer! If you believe you have what it takes and are above the age of 10, congratulations you are eligible to enter. Registration opens April 11 and will remain open until May 9, on May 21 and 22 auditions will be taking place at the DAC Weatherstone Studio. Individuals as well as groups are welcome to try out so if you have been considering starting up your own band, dance ensemble, you have another talent now is the perfect time to start practicing. The main event will take place on June 25 at the Darien Art Center, this event is an important fundraiser for the DAC and a great chance to watch local talent you might not know about. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top performers in both the child and adult categories! If audiences could be entertained watching Seamen’s Moving teams, we would undoubtedly win the top prize. Stratford’s Summer Concert Series

The Summer is best spent outdoors and Stratford is one of the best places to be in Connecticut when the weather gets warm. Every Summer the Recreation Department puts together its Summer Sunset Concert Series, this year it will take place every Tuesday beginning on June 14th and continuing until August 30th. It starts at 7:00 pm every week on the Paradise Green Lawn and features lots of the great local talent from all over Fairfield County. You are more than welcome to bring your own lawn chair, food and drink so that you are more comfortable the entire time. This event will take place rain or shine and is free of charge so bring all of the friends and family you can find! Downtown Milford is known to host many great events throughout the summer, the Spring Arts & Crafts Show is just the beginning of jam packed season. This annual event will be held on May 7th and 8th so you will have plenty of time to explore everything throughout the weekend. It takes place on the downtown Milford Green, on Saturday it will be open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and on Sunday it will be open from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. There will be a wide variety of art created by professional artists from around New England that will be available for purchase. Delicious local food vendors will have tents set up so you don’t have to worry about going hungry! If you are a local artist, there is still time to register for your own exhibition table as well.
