By the 1890’s, the Christ Parish of Ansonia had grown too large for their old church on Main Street. With a plot of land gifted by Franklin Farrel, of the Farrel Foundry & Machine Company, the construction of the church began, with designs provided by Henry M. Congdon & Sons of New York. Made of Ansonia Granite and New Jersey Graystone, this marvelous building continues to be in use today. Designed in 1938 and abandoned in 1972, the playhouse has been a beacon of talent in Westport since it’s restoration in 2000.
