But the Darien Historical Society has done just that with both the Bates-Scofield house, as well as the Scofield Barn. In 1964, the house was facing demolition, but was given to a physically moved to its current location on Old King’s Highway North. In 2008, the historic Scofield Barn was also moved to this address, then restored and attached to the Bates-Scofield house.
