We’ve talked about the Harvard 5 and their influence on modern Architecture, and today we’re taking a look at another one of their intriguing projects. Constructed in 1960 and designed by Landis Gores, the Gores Pavilion was intended to be a combination pool house and lodge for Jack Irwin (the US ambassador to France) and his wife Jane Watson (daughter of IBM’s founder). In 2005 the building was nearly demolished when the land was sold to the town to create a public park, but the home was ultimately saved thanks to help of New Canaan Historical Society supporters as well as matching government grants.
